Description: Upon the platform at right stands Hamlet, forward, head turned slightly to left. His right arm is extended forward with his sword held horizontally. Two men at extreme left (Horatio and Marcellus) extend their right arms and place them on the blade of Hamlet's sword. In centre background, the shadowy figure of the Ghost appears to be descending into the ground. Behind in the background are the walls of the castle. Hamlet wears a short tunic and cloak. He has a moustache but no beard. On his left breast he wears an insignia of some kind in the shape of a cross.
